Petaling Jaya City Council has organized a 'Focus Group Discussion' (FGD) Session located at Hotel Crystal Crown, Petaling Jaya, today. The session aims to gain insights from stakeholders and engaged agencies on three key initiatives: Urban Regeneration Survey, Domestic Transportation Hub Survey, and the Kayu Ara River Beautification Project.
The goal of the FGD is to identify potentials, challenges, and development opportunities in old and abandoned areas in Petaling Jaya that have the potential to be re-developed. The results of this study will be a significant input for the preparation of the Petaling Jaya Local Plan 2035 (Replacement), which aims :
i) Coordinate the direction of development to be in line with federal and state government policies.
ii) Using the latest concepts and development strategies to create sustainable and progressive cities.
iii) Identifying potential sites for future development.
As many as 111 participants comprised of technical agencies, urban planning professionals, architects, professional landscape architects, Councillors, representatives of Parliament, Heads of Department, MBPJ Officers
and University of Malaya students have shared their views.
YBrs. Tuan Hj. Mohamad Zahri bin Hj. Samingon, Mayor of Petaling Jaya was also present to listen to the workshop summary and deliver the closing speech.
