- Coordinate, provide information and input in the preparation of the Selangor State Structure Plan.
- Prepare and observe Petaling Jaya Local Plan 1 and Petaling District Local Plan and Klang District.
- Preparing action plans (Special Area Plan) based on the Petaling District Local Plan and part of Klang District.
- Provide Spatial Development Plan to improve the quality of the environment and urban design of an area.
- Coordinate land use data for use in the State Structure Plan and Local Plan.
- Review of Petaling Jaya Local Plans.
- Monitor the implementation of the Structure Plan and Local Plan policies at Council Level.
- Conduct research work on Petaling Jaya development planning issues.
- Prepare and review guidelines and planning standards.
- To advise landowners/ Town Planner in terms of approved development plans.
