Heartfelt congratulations and well done to the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) for being crowned as the top 12 winners out of 42 project entries in the ‘National Scroll of Honour Award for Human Settlements’ (NSOHA) 2024 Settelment (NSOHA), 2024 award entitled Child Friendly City Petaling Jaya For Greatest Youth Engagement Toward Better Urban Future Stage in conjunction with the Launching Ceremony of World Habitat Day Celebration Malaysia Level Year 2024
This award was presented by YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Local Government Development to YBrs. Tuan Hj. Mohamad Zahri bin Hj. Samingon, Mayor of Petaling Jaya located at Taman Armenian, Georgetown, Penang on October 6, 2024 in conjunction with Malaysia Urban Forum (MUF) 2024 which is also held on October 5th-7th 2024 This MUF Delegation for 2024 consists of Council Members and MBPJ Officers.
In conjunction with MUF 2024 Sir TPr. Lee Lih Shyan, Director of Development Planning has also received an invitation to make 3 presentations namely Academic Assembly 'Learning City: A Lesson Learned', Special Session 2 ‘Circular Cities: A Transition Towards Sustainability’ and Roundtable 4 ‘Accessibility And Mobility : A key to an inclusive city’ .
World Habitat in 2024 celebrated in conjunction with the Malaysia Urban Forum (MUF) is a program under the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) that is celebrated worldwide, and is also celebrated at the national level every year.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Engaging Youth to Create a Better Urban Future” to support the principle of no one left behind that focuses on the role of youth in building urban future that meets the needs of all levels of society by leveraging their energy, creativity and perspectives.
